Alto were initially appointed to carry out the remediation of an old industrial works factory in Leeds city centre to prepare the ground for the construction of the Glenbrook Riverside development.

This development consists of 3 towers ranging from 11 storeys to 20 storeys providing a 500 unit build to rent residential project, 250 sq ft of office space, a hotel and a multi storey car park. Following the successful completion of the remediation element of the works, Alto were also awarded the groundworks for the main project.

Work on this scheme included:

• Excavation of all material across site to a depth of 2m.
• Removal of all hard obstructions within the 2m turnover zone
• Locating and analysing hazardous materials including asbestos, coal tar, tar covered cobbles.
• Removal of 1150m3 of hazardous waste material from site to approved hazardous waste disposal site
• Import 6F2 material to be used as fill in areas impacted by removal of material off site.
• Construction of Pile mat.

• Construction of main lift core foundations
• Construction of pile caps, ground beams and ancillary foundations across site
• Installation of attenuation tanks, separators, and final connection into the river
• Installation of all Surface Water and Foul Water drainage.
• Installation of all ducting and duct chambers.
• Construction of all external areas, access roads and Section 278 works to Whitehall Rd
• All external works including extensive paving.
