Alto were appointed to carry out the remediation of an old industrial works factory in Leeds city centre on Whitehall Rd to prepare the ground for the construction of a further MSCP and office block development.

This site is immediately adjacent to the B&K site we previously worked on. The site is to be developed into a multi-story carpark and office block with Basement.

The remediation contract involved:

• Preparation of remediation strategy and MMP in accordance with the CL:AIRE protocol and approval with the regulators.
• Validation of the works during and post completion to allow discharge of Planning consent.
• Excavation of all material across site to a depth of 6m.
• Removal of all hard obstructions within building footprints and external works areas.
• Locating and analysing hazardous materials including asbestos, coal tar and tar covered cobbles.
• Removal of hazardous waste material from site to approved hazardous waste disposal site.
• Import 6F2 material to be used as fill in areas impacted by removal of material off site.
• Construction of Pile matt for both development plots.
• Reinstating back to a carpark until the main works commence.
