Strawson’s Property appointed Alto Construct as Main Contractor to construct the infrastructure on a new business park they were planning to develop. We were appointed on a JCT D&B contract with a Contract Value of £900,000.

The site had endured years of planning approval issues, so we needed to communicate with local residents, parish councillors, and Statutory bodies. This was a greenfield site adjacent to the M6 motorway. Due to the proximity of the M6 motorway to the site entrance, additional approvals for the Section 278 element of works were needed for our proposed traffic management provisions.

The work comprised of the following elements:

• Construction of surface water drainage, pipe diameter ranging from 1500mm Dia to 225mm Dia.
• Construction of foul water pumping main, including pumping station.
• Diversion of high voltage underground and overhead cables.
• Construction of new substation.
• Construction of geosynthetic clay lined attenuation pond.
• Construction of numerous headwalls.
• Construction of new access road
• Section 278 works to the existing highway, including associated drainage works.
• Construction of paths around the lagoon and new landscaping green areas.
• All soft landscaping and planting.
• Soft landscaping including planting and street furniture.
